Three types of spindle whorls were found at Fistikli Höyük. One type was made of a greenish soapstone. The two specimens of this category have a flattened conical shape. The hole in the middle was produced by a rotating device, probably a bow-drill. The use of a turning device is also indicated by a perfectly circular incision on the upper side of one of these items. A second type is represented by three items, consisting of whorls formed out of clay. Finally, the largest number of such objects was shaped secondarily out of sherds, exclusively of fine ware. In most cases, these sherds had some paint on them. Diameters of this type, as well as the width of the inner hole do not vary much. Similar disks have been found on many other Halaf sites, such as Sabi Abyad.
