Topics include basic concepts in anthropology, the culture concept, language and cultures, history of anthropological theory, fieldwork, "modernity" and industrial states, colonialism and indigenous peoples, decolonization and cultural resistances, globalization in Latin America, Africa and the Carribean, political economy in post-colonial societies, the Middle East, Asian gendered realities in the age of global capitalism, contemporary global trends and the future role of anthropology.
