ANTHROPOLOGY ADVISING Students are not assigned a specific faculty advisor within the Anthropology Department, but are encouraged to seek advice on courses and career planning from faculty members with whom you take courses or faculty you’ve come to know through participation in their research, particularly if you are focusing your studies in a particular subfield. Students interested in majoring or minoring in Anthropology should meet with the Director of Undergraduate Studies to discuss your choice of a major or minor. All majors in Anthropology should meet once a semester with the Director of Undergraduate Studies for advising on course selection and progress to degree. Students minoring in Anthropology may meet less regularly with the Undergraduate Director but should still seek advising annually on course requirements, course offerings, and progress to degree. Majors and minors should also see the Undergraduate Director about any problems with your DARS report, if you’re planning to study abroad for a semester, and for any administrative matters relating to your major/minor. Please note that this information is not intended as a substitute for advising, and all Anthropology majors and minors should meet with the Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Anthropology Department periodically throughout your studies at Binghamton University.
